GATHERING GUIDE
Aion 2 Gathering & Resource Guide: Professions, Materials & Economy
Aion 2's player-driven economy begins with gathering. Whether you are a dedicated gatherer who spends hours in the wild or a crafter who needs raw materials, understanding the gathering system is essential to progressing efficiently. From the three core gathering professions — Mining, Herbalism, and Logging — to rare resource nodes, zone-specific materials, and the auction house economy, this guide covers everything you need to build your wealth and supply your crafting ambitions.

Gathering Professions Overview
Aion 2 features three primary gathering professions, each tied to specific resource types found across Atreia. Unlike many MMOs, you are not locked into a single gathering profession — you can learn and level all three on the same character, giving you complete flexibility to gather whatever materials the market demands.
Mining is the profession of extracting ores, gems, and rare metals from mineral deposits found in caves, cliffsides, and mountainous regions. Mined materials feed into Armorsmithing, Weaponsmithing, and Jewelcrafting. Higher Mining skill unlocks access to richer veins and rarer gem nodes, which are essential for endgame gear crafting.
Herbalism focuses on gathering plants, herbs, and flowers from forests, plains, and swamp areas. Herbalism materials are the backbone of Alchemy and Cooking, producing potions, scrolls, and food buffs that are always in high demand. Rare herbs often spawn in specific weather conditions or at certain times of the in-game day cycle.
Logging provides wood from trees and unique plant life across the world. Wood is used in Carpentry for staves, bows, and furniture, as well as in Architecture for housing components. Logging nodes are often the most visible and accessible, but the highest-quality timber is found in dangerous high-level zones guarded by aggressive mobs.
Resource Types & Locations
Resources in Aion 2 are categorized by tier and rarity. Common resources (Tier 1-2) are found in the starting zones such as Poeta, Ishalgen, and Sanctum/Pandaemonium outskirts. These are sufficient for leveling your gathering skills and for low-level crafting, but they sell for minimal gold on the auction house.
Uncommon resources (Tier 3-4) appear in mid-level zones like Eltnen, Morheim, and the Abyss surface. These include higher-grade ores like Mithril Ore, rare herbs such as Aetherleaf, and sturdy timber from Ironwood trees. These materials are the bread and butter of the mid-game economy and are always in demand for crafting level-appropriate gear and consumables.
Rare resources (Tier 5-6) are found in endgame zones including the Abyss Rift, the Balaurea continent, and instanced gathering zones. These are materials like Stellium Crystals, Primordial Herbs, and Ancient Timber. Rare nodes are often contested by enemy faction players and guarded by elite monsters, making gathering them a high-risk, high-reward activity.
Special gathering nodes include Aetheric Nodes (which yield Aether, a vital enchanting material that respawns on a fixed timer), Treasure Chests (random spawns that contain gold, crafting recipes, or rare materials), and Resource Clusters (concentrated node groups that spawn during world events, offering a burst of high-tier materials for a limited time). Knowing the spawn patterns and timers for these special nodes is a significant advantage for dedicated gatherers.
Economy Tips: Earning Gold
The auction house is the heart of Aion 2's player economy. Prices fluctuate based on supply and demand, patch cycles, and the day of the week. Gathering materials tends to spike in price during weekends when more players are crafting, and drops during weekdays when gatherers restock the market. Smart gatherers sell high on weekends and buy low on weekdays to maximize their profits.
The most consistently profitable materials are those used in consumables — potions, scrolls, food, and flight-related items. Players consume these daily, so the demand never drops. Tier 3-4 herbs and ores used in popular potions and repair kits sell reliably at good prices. Additionally, Aether from Aetheric Nodes is almost always profitable because it is required for gear enhancement, a system that endgame players engage with constantly.
For pure gold farming, focus on materials that feed into the highest-volume crafts. Monitor the auction house for price trends and identify which crafted items have the highest profit margin after accounting for material costs. Tools like the in-game marketplace history (available at auction house NPCs) can help you track price trends over the last 7-30 days.
Daily gathering routines matter. Set up a route that hits high-value nodes in a loop, timing your gathering runs to coincide with Aetheric Node respawns. Use flight to cover ground quickly between node clusters. Joining a gathering guild or community can also help — members share node locations, respawn timers, and market price alerts, giving you a significant edge over solo gatherers.
Gathering & Crafting Connection
Gathering and crafting are deeply intertwined in Aion 2. Every crafting profession relies on raw materials gathered from the world. Without gatherers, the crafting economy would collapse. Understanding which materials feed which crafting profession is key to targeting your gathering efforts profitably.
Mining materials feed Armorsmithing (plate armor, shields), Weaponsmithing (swords, axes, polearms), and Jewelcrafting (rings, earrings, necklaces). Herbalism materials are used in Alchemy (potions, elixirs, scrolls) and Cooking (food buffs). Logging materials supply Carpentry (staves, bows, magic weapons) and Architecture (housing components, furniture). Some advanced recipes require materials from multiple gathering professions, encouraging cross-profession gathering or trade between gatherers.
The synergy between gathering and crafting also extends to gathering tools. Higher-quality gathering tools (crafted by Weaponsmiths) increase yield per node and reduce gathering time. These tools degrade with use and must be repaired or replaced, creating a secondary economy loop that benefits crafters. Similarly, Alchemists produce gathering boosters — temporary buffs that increase your chance of finding rare materials or double-proc on node harvests.
For players who want to maximize their economic potential, the ideal setup is to level at least one gathering profession alongside your crafting profession of choice. This reduces your material costs and gives you a steady supply of raw ingredients. However, specializing purely in gathering and selling raw materials on the auction house is a completely viable and profitable playstyle — dedicated gatherers who master node routes and market timing can earn as much gold as the most dedicated crafters.
