Aion 2 PC Performance Guide: Requirements, FPS & Latency
With the September 30 early access approaching, PC players are asking one question more than any other: can my computer actually run Aion 2? This guide covers the official system requirements verified against the Steam listing, what each spec tier means in practice, the settings that matter most for frame rate on Unreal Engine 5, and the latency basics that make a fighting game feel right — even in an MMORPG.

Official Minimum & Recommended Requirements
NC lists the following requirements for Aion 2 on Steam (verified against the store page on August 23, 2026). Minimum: Windows 10/11 64-bit, an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-10500, 8 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB. Recommended: Windows 10/11 64-bit, an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700, 16 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA RTX 2070 8 GB. Both tiers list DirectX 12 and 100 GB of storage.
Two things stand out. First, the storage figure is the same for both tiers — plan for a full 100 GB install, ideally on an SSD, from day one. Second, DirectX 12 is mandatory, which effectively rules out very old GPUs even if they meet the nominal minimum tier.
These are 'what ran the game at 1080p when it shipped' numbers, which publishers themselves describe as conservative. If your CPU is roughly equivalent to the recommended tier and your GPU is at or above an RTX 2070, expect comfortable performance at 1080p/60.
What the Specs Mean for Your Build
At the recommended tier, 1080p at around 60 FPS is the realistic target for the global build. Reaching stable 60 FPS is what NC's recommended hardware was tuned for — there is no confirmed frame-rate cap or unlocked-frame pledge from NC at this time.
For 1440p or higher refresh rates, third-party hardware guides generally recommend pairing a modern mid-range GPU (roughly the RTX 5060 Ti class and up) with a recent Ryzen 7 or Core i7 CPU and 32 GB of RAM. These are community recommendations, not official requirements.
The game world is roughly 36 times the size of the original Aion, so large open areas stream a lot of detail. Storage speed genuinely matters here: an NVMe SSD measurably reduces hitching when flying across regions compared to a slow mechanical drive.
Optimizing Settings for Higher FPS
The biggest frame-rate levers in a UE5 title are usually resolution scaling, shadow quality, and the game's built-in upscaling path where available. Start by setting a target resolution and using upscaling to keep the internal render resolution lower while retaining UI sharpness.
Lowering shadows and effects quality gives larger FPS gains than most other settings, at a visual cost that is easy to ignore during combat. Keep textures high if your GPU has enough VRAM — texture quality rarely affects frame rate, only load times and memory.
Update your graphics drivers before the September 30 early access and again before the free-to-play launch, since day-one game patches often ship with driver support. Close background launchers and cap the frame rate if your setup runs hot; a stable 60 is better for latency than an uncapped 90 on a small screen.
Reducing Ping & Connection Issues
Aion 2's global service runs five servers across North America, South America, Europe, and Japan with no regional locks. Choosing the server physically closest to you remains the single most effective latency lever — you can change servers without regional restrictions, but distance still shows up in the ping number.
Beyond server choice: use a wired connection when possible, close bandwidth-heavy downloads during play, and allow the game and launcher through your firewall. During peak launch weekends, expect login queues and brief latency spikes regardless of setup.
VPN and ping-booster tools are third-party software — some are legitimate optimization tools, but routing changes can also violate a game's terms of service in some titles. When in doubt, use official channels and treat any tool that requires your account credentials with suspicion.
Launch-Ready PC Checklist
Install it early: start the client via Steam or PURPLE as soon as pre-download opens, since the 100 GB install takes a while on slower connections. Verify the install before launch day.
Check your direct share: confirm Windows, GPU drivers, and DirectX 12 are current, and that your OS drive has at least 100 GB free for the install with room to spare for patches.
Finally, agree on your launch-day expectations: download times, login queues, and day-one patch downloads are normal at an MMO launch. A stable connection and a verified install get you in fastest — everything else is server-side.
